Facilitating Factor Mapping: A Practical Guide for Development Programs
This guidance introduces a systems thinking approach to help teams identify and analyze the factors and relationships that shape program implementation. It provides a structured process for mapping how different elements of a system interact and influence outcomes, helping teams see the bigger picture rather than focusing on individual challenges in isolation. The tool supports users in understanding system dynamics and identifying leverage points for improving implementation.
To support practical application, the guidance includes three case studies that show how factor mapping can be used in different contexts. These examples demonstrate how teams can apply the method to surface system drivers, prioritize actions, and strengthen program performance across diverse settings.
